Some of my comments seem to be contributory to the reporter’s details though my included part was brief, the is message served.
“Forget Winnetou! Loving in the Wrong Way” (2018), a full length documentary directed, produced and edited by me, and still quite relevant. How so? White supremacist ideology, Eurocentrism and Colonialism are stronger than ever in Germany, whatever party, whatever platform. Stereotyping, misuse and misrepresentation of other groups and minoritized peoples is virulent. Rape culture is epidemic, and even more insidious and normalized than ever, and pedophilia is laid bare in light yet the rich, powerful and connected continue to escape justice and enjoy privilege.
Courtesy provided by hierarchies of race, color, socio-economic status and pillaged wealth created and/or solidified during Europe’s first phase of violent extra-continental conquest and the enslavement of others. Now agendas by many of the descendants are focused on retaining ill-gotten, blood-drenched land and resources by keeping the majority fighting each other instead of permanently removing them from influence.
Stop the romanticization of oppression, land theft, colonialism and genocide that is STILL ONGOING of Indigenous peoples and cultures. Stop supporting the exploitation and primitization of Indigenous peoples and cultures.
Natives, allies and professional organizations like the APA (American Psychological Association) has been saying so for centuries and decades! As a whole, despite many many years of education, Germany continues to say this kind of racism and the teaching of rape culture is okay. What is rape culture? It’s ignoring when someone says, “Stop, you’re hurting me!” And the response is, “Oh, you’re being too sensitive! Maybe if you relax, you might even enjoy it and have fun.” What a terrible thing to take a child, but we see such teaching and reinforcement across societies. That is why this is NOT a niché topic!
